ELA Mock Testing Day #2

Sorry for the late post.  I had a workshop today from 4-7 PM for GoMath.  We got out a little early and luckily it is just 4 blocks from my apartment.  I cannot tell you how cold it is outside.  I seriously got "brain freeze" just walking home.. you know like when you eat ice cream or have a really cold drink and your head hurts... I got that just walking home from the wicked cold air!  OUCH!
  1. ELA Mock Testing
  2. ELA Mock Testing
  3. ELA Mock Testing
  4. GoMath 6.6
    1. I can use benchmark fractions (0, 1/2, and 1) to compare fractions.    I had the students come to the front of the room and we took each fraction and decided what 1/2 of that fraction would be.  For instance, if the fraction was 8/10, the students discovered that half of the fraction whole would be 5/10... so 8/10th was more than a half, and pretty close to a whole.  We could then compare it to say 2/6 by thinking that half would 3/6, so 2/6 was less than half... so 8/10 is greater than 2/6.    Using this mental math, thinking about fractions in terms of half... allows them to analyze the numbers and think about them in a new and different way.
  5. Gym with Mr. Hoffman
  6. Lunch
  7. Class Novel - The Indian in the Cupboard Chapter 15 (didn't get to finish!!!)
Homework:
  • Math:  GoMath 6.6 Practice -
    • Students MUST use a number line to show the fractions in relation to 1/2 and each other.

Tomorrow is the last day of ELA Mock Testing.  Next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday is MATH Mock Testing.
