Pictures coming soon!!!!
Ok, today was probably one of my favorite days of teaching in my 18 years of teaching. Almost all of the students came to school in their pajamas and looked SO CUTE!
First period they had Dance with Mr. Nunez. Since they had to be in the room they watched a musical Annie and looked at the choreography from the musical.
Second period I let them finish watching Annie so they could see the end. After the movie ended we transitioned the room into a suitable reading area. All the tables and chairs were pushed to the edge and the read-a-thon commenced!
For half of 2nd period, all of 3rd period, and half of 4th period the students curled up on the floor with their pillows and blankets and read. There was very little goofing off! They really did read. A few of the boys made "Man Caves" out of the desks and read under them. Ms. Mendoza, our literacy coach even took time out to come in and read in her PJ's. The kids loved it!
After the read-a-thon students took AR tests and set the room back up.
For the rest of 4th and half of 5th we went across the hallway and did Waggle Math and AR Articles. Some students finished their legends so they could turn them in.
For the rest of 5th - 7th we had a movie watching, working lunch. The kids watched "Maleficent" to look at plot development, theme, and tone. We ordered pizza, and the kids brought in snacks. We had a great time. At the end of the day we cleaned up and I passed out their Math packet and Literacy Packet for vacation. I also passed out goodie bags that had not one, but TWO books in there for them to read. No excuses for not having a book to read over break!
