Picture Day = CRAZY DAY!

WELL WELL WELL....

That is all I can say really...

I picked the kids up at 8:15, we did the pledge, we came upstairs, and we unpacked and I had them pick out 2-3 quick read non-fiction books to read while we waited to get our pictures taken.  I took my iPad and the laptop and we headed downstairs for our 8:30 Picture Day Appointment.

Well, he was late getting here do to PARKING.  So he wasn't quite ready.  The good news... The students sat down, read their books, and waited patiently.   They passed around the laptop and iPad and took quizzes and read and then 30/45 minutes later, we started to get a little action going.

Long story short, about 10:30 we returned to the classroom.  I started sending kids to the bathroom to change out of their uniform and into gym clothes.

In ReadyGen we started a new story - "John Henry".   We were looking at descriptions and how the author introduces characters, setting, and situations for the plot.  In the story, they talked about John Henry having lunch that included biscuits and molasses.  I told the kids that for a special after school treat, my mom used to make us biscuits, but we got butter and syrup.  I jumped online and showed them how good they look.  They kids were all, "STOP, you're making us hungry!"   I couldn't help but think that in just under two weeks, I would be back home with my mom and dad and family and I would ask her to make me some biscuits just like John Henry!

Since the kids were so good today, I decided to let them do Waggle for 4th period.  We went to the library and the kids had options of doing Waggle ELA, taking AR tests, or doing AR Articles.   I am very proud to say that our class has THE MOST AR points for 4th grade, and we are in striking distance of passing one of the fifth grade classes.  PLEASE, make sure your child is reading each night for 40-45 minutes.  Reading is the KEY indicator of success in school.  Good readers do well in school.  It is a documented fact.  READ READ READ!   With that said, I asked the principal for special permission for a reading event, and she said yes!!! More information to come!

The students went to gym for 5th period.

Sixth period was lunch!

We ended the day doing GoMath 4.3 and reviewing math facts!

Homework:
Read 40-45 minutes, log and summary
Writing - Use Story Sequence Organizer to write story (to be graded)
Math - GoMath Practice 4.3
