Today was one of those days that just didn't go as planned... from the get go...
We were signed up to go WAGGLE first period, but another teacher needed the library, so we switched....
First period we read chapter 4 of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever". We actually did a little decorating of the room as well.
Second period we went to the library and worked on WAGGLE - ELA.
Third period we did ReadyGen Unit 2 Module A Lesson 7. We read from page 76 - 95 of "How the Stars Fell Into the Sky". Today we focused on Point of View and did a double entry t-chart comparing the point of view of the coyote and First Woman in the legend. The kids really got it. It is always good when they "GET IT!"
Fourth period we started going over the Chapter 5 math test but after about 25 minutes of FIGHTING for their attention, I simply gave up, passed out their performance task, and told them "GOOD LUCK!" I called a small group of students over to the breakout table and worked with them as the others worked independently. Expect some phone calls this weekend parents.
Fifth period they had GYM. Four of my boys were acting so badly that they had to be removed from the group and were sitting separately. NO BUENO!
They had lunch 6th period.
After lunch we went to the Auditorium for picture day. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, they suggested we get our coats and bags so we can leave from there. Long story short, four classes, ours included did not get our pictures taken today. We did get to spend an entire period sitting in the auditorium patiently. I was actually impressed with how well behaved they were considering the circumstances.
Due to the fact that they changed our picture schedule, and that we didn't go back to our room to end the day, the kids got a rare treat... NO HOMEWORK! Heck, we didn't even get to finish our Chapter 5 Performance Task! I hope that they take this time to catch up on studying their multiplication and division facts and their reading. They should be reading a book a week and passing at least ONE AR Test a week.
