Busy Busy Busy

Today went by SO fast!  The busier you are, the quicker time seems to pass!!

QUICK REMINDER - Tomorrow, Thursday, is PICTURE day!  We will be taking pictures at 8:30 AM.  Please make sure all your babies are in full uniforms and at school ON TIME!!!  I also told them they could bring gym clothes to change into after pictures since it is gym day too.

1st Period - Science with Ms. Gallan

2nd Period - We started the period doing a non-fiction quick read and AR Quiz.  We are reading a lot of novels, so we need to remember to read some non-fiction pieces and quiz as well.  We then broke into our new "reading/book club" groups.  Group 1 decided to read the book "LOOT".  Group 2 picked next and decided on "Rump".  Group 3 is using the listening center and they picked "Island of the Blue Dolphins" as their read-along book.  Group 4 is reading with me and we are doing "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".

3rd Period - ReadyGen Unit 2 Module A Lesson 12 - We finished Pecos Bill and discussed more aspects of Legends and especially TALL TALES.  We reviewed story elements and planning a story using a sequence chart.  Tonight for homework they have to think of a character, setting, and aspects of a story.

4th Period - We reviewed where we have been so far in Chapter 4 (4.1 and 4.2).  I decided to slow down a bit because the students are struggling with division due to the fact that they don't know their multiplication facts.  STUDY STUDY!   So we slowed down, went over the homework from 4.1 and 4.2 and I think the students seemed to have a better grasp of the concepts covered.

5th Period - Waggle (MATH)

6th Period - Lunch

7th Period - Another Non-Fiction text and AR test, and then we went back and covered a concept from the last chapter again - Prime and Composite numbers.  We spent time reviewing the rules of divisibility so that students could figure out if the numbers are prime or composite.  Ask your kids to tell you have they know if a number is divisible by 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9.  They should be able to tell you!

Homework:
Read for 40-45 minutes and write a summary
Reading: Legend Reading Comprehension "UNICORNS"
Writing: Planning a story using a Story Sequence Graphic Organizer
Math:  Review - Using Multiples
